Overthrow Your HOA
Native seeds are cheap,
Native seeds are abundant,
So take the leap,

I’m just very, very anti-lawn.
I wrote this little poem at 3am last night. Honestly, the middle of the night is when I feel most inspired to write poetry. The intent is not necessarily to inspire a full-on mutiny to overthrow your HOA. The intent is for people with restrictive HOAs to get involved with their HOAs and push to relax restrictions on things like lawn care that are detrimental to the environment. The standard grass lawn is a food desert for pollinators (and humans too! Plant some fruit and nut trees!). Converting a lawn to a native plant meadow attracts tons of beneficial insects!
HOAs have an unfortunately large amount of power and can levy fines in many regions. Sometimes a homebuyer doesn’t have the option to buy a home without an HOA. So, if your HOA is pro-lawn, I encourage you to get involved. Find like-minded anti-lawn people who are native plant enthusiasts and run for a seat on your HOA board. Overthrow your HOA to bee the change and make the community better!
