The Definitive Guide To Cute and Funny Chicken Names

With the price of eggs in the news on a daily basis for the past several months there has been an uptick in beginner chicken farmers. Any good farmer has debated the pros and cons, read up on their breeds, how to house and feed their chicks, and what to do if one gets sick. However, many new chicken farmers forget one super important detail – these new egg layers need cute and funny chicken names! So here is the definitive guide to cute and funny chicken names to show your wit and be the envy of all your friends.

You can certainly just google a bit to find a funny chicken name that you like, but I think you should be creative and come up with your own names! This guide will help you out a bit. My credentials are that I’m a Dad with years of pun-itive experience – and these are my chickens names:

  1. Cluckmaster Flex (the Rooster)
  2. Flappy Flappers (aka Flaps)
  3. Mac N. Cheese
  4. S’more Cuddles
  5. Brownie
  6. Ash Ketcher
  7. Cecilia

Clearly, you need to use something related to the chickens to make puns with. “Cluck Norris” is a popular name for roosters, but has become passé in my opinion (though one of my favorite jokes is a Chuck Norris joke – Chuck Norris doesn’t get wet, water gets Chuck Norrised.)

  1. Egg – Eggatron
  2. Yolk – Thom Yolk of RadioEggHead
  3. Shell – Shelly, MiShell
  4. Chalazae (which are ropes of egg white that hold the yolk in the center) – Timothée Chalazae
  5. Albumen (the egg white) – Albumen Einstein

Cluck – Cluckington Bear

Flying – Flying Dutchman (a legendary ghost ship), Flying Duchess

Roosting – Roo, Marcel Proost

Peck – Gregory Peck (of Roman Holiday fame)

Claw and Shank (part of the leg) – Clawshank Redemption or just Clawshank

Wing – Top Wing

Beak – Beaker

Comb – Sean Puffy Combs (but don’t actually name a chicken after P. Diddy because he is a bad person)

Cloaca – best to leave this one alone

Just Have Fun

Well, I think I’ve spent enough time on this. Basically, the point is that since you’re probably going to have a lot of chickens to name, you should just name them ridiculous things.
