Happy Not My President’s Day! There’s a lot going on in the USA, so it seems like a good time to post this poem I wrote about the woes of the everyperson. The title “Violent Paperwork” is derived from a post that AOC wrote about how the denial of a healthcare claim is an act of violence. I forget her exact words, but that was the gist of it.
And I totally agree. There are a lot of violent acts that are first manifested as paperwork, or the rejection of prepared paperwork. “Death by paperwork” typically means that someone is overloaded with too much work, but a cancer patient dying because they a health insurance company denies their claim is true death by paperwork, and anything that results in the death of another human must be considered violent.
There’s many forms of resistance to oligarchs, but I think self-reliance through growing your own food to reduce consumption of corporate goods is one way to stick it to those who think continued distribution of wealth to the upper class is beneficial to society.
